Joy Behar misses ‘The View’ after dislocating shoulder
Joy Behar missed Thursday’s episode of “The View” after suffering a serious injury on set.
“Joy has been healing behind the scenes but is on the mend and is expected to be back on the show by the middle of next week,” her rep told Page Six in a statement.
“Her shoulder was not broken and is back in place and she is excited to get back to the table as quickly as possible,” added the 83-year-old Behar rep.
Sunny Hostin explained the reason for Behar’s absence at the start of Thursday’s show.
“So Whoopi (Goldberg) is still filming a movie,” Hostin said of the show’s moderator, adding, “And unfortunately our dear friend Joy dislocated her shoulder.”
After the audience gasped, Hostin, 57, continued, “Yeah, so she’s recovering and she’ll be back soon.”
Hostin then joked that producers placed her in the moderator seat — usually occupied by Goldberg, or Behar if the EGOT winner is absent — because she is “the next oldest host.”
“Or, let’s say, seasoned. I prefer seasoned!” she joked.
Hostin was joined by her regular co-hosts Sara Haines, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin, as well as guest host Sherri Shepherd.
“It’s a team here,” Farah Griffin said of the group. “I like it.”
Behar, who has been with “The View” since the show began in 1997 for all but two seasons, was previously absent from the talk show for two weeks in June to focus on her piece, “My First Ex-Husband,” in London.
“I’ve been getting a lot of media attention lately because I’m leaving for the next two weeks,” Behar said on the show ahead of his trip to Europe.
“They call it a break. It’s not a break,” added the comedian, specifying that she was leaving for
“work.”
On the May 26 episode of the “Behind the Table” podcast, Behar explained that she planned to first travel to Paris, where she would playwright “in various cafes” and visit exhibitions, before heading to London.
Behar’s play, which comically addresses themes like marriage and divorce, has already debuted Off-Broadway in New York in February 2025.
When she returned to the show on June 16, Behar told her co-hosts that her play had been a hit in the UK, joking: “Turns out women all over the world hate their husbands.” »
“Everyone loved it,” she said. “It was a great experience.”
