Landlord’s Lawyer Trying to Kill Mamdani Rent Freeze Forces Release of SHOCKING Texts Like ‘Appreciate the Appointment’ and ‘Honored to Serve’

A group of owners represented by the former first deputy mayor Randy Mastro who are trying to reverse the historic two-year rent freeze on the city’s million rent-stabilized apartments, scored a small victory last week when a the judge ordered the Mamdani administration to hand over their communications with members of the Rent Guidelines Council.

Mastro and the landlords argued that because Mayor Zohran Mamdani promised to freeze rents before becoming mayor, he exerted undue influence over the RVB, which is nominally an independent body that has always been staffed by political appointees of the mayor.
