The Houthis in Yemen must “immediately cease all military actions, threats and attacks” against shipping, G7 foreign ministers urged in a statement released on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
“Their wrongdoing constitutes a dangerous trajectory of escalation that risks further exacerbating the conflict, undermining international trade and creating economic instability on a global scale,” they added, reaffirming “the absolute need to ensure permanent maritime safety and security, as well as the rights and freedoms of navigation worldwide.”
