Mark Mortimer is dead: the actor of “Another World” was 59 years old
Mark Mortimer, an actor best known for his role as Nick Hudson in the soap opera Another world, died after a battle with cancer. He was 59 years old.
Mortimer died Sept. 23 “surrounded by the people he loved most after a fearless journey through cancer,” according to an obituary written by his family and posted online by Moss-Norris Funeral Home in St. Charles, Illinois.
Mortimer played Nick on Another world from 1996. He was the third actor to take on this role, after Justin Chambers and Kevin McClatchy. He appeared in 81 episodes until the NBC soap’s 35-year run ended in 1999.
He also starred in a 1999 episode of Turn the city. His last credit, according to IMDB.com, was the 2005 film The man from nowhere.
“Mark Mortimer lived many lives in one lifetime,” his family wrote. “He was an Army veteran, a model, an actor, an entrepreneur and a builder. He was a husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was curious and determined, willing to take risks, start something new, change directions and figure things out along the way. But of all the titles Mark held throughout his life, the two that meant the most to him were husband and father.”
Born April 15, 1967, in Yorkville, Illinois, Mortimer was also a co-owner of IOC Construction and helped build it “not only as a business, but as a family. He believed in hard work, relationships, loyalty and caring for people. Many people who came into Mark’s life through work became lifelong friends,” his family wrote.
He was diagnosed with cancer in 2024. He and his wife of 25 years, Christie, founded the Integrative Access Foundation to give people with cancer access to integrative therapies that might be too expensive for them.
“Mark showed those who loved him that courage is not the absence of fear,” his family wrote. “It’s choosing to live, to love, to laugh, to hope, and to trust in God even when the path ahead is uncertain.” »
Besides his wife, survivors include their daughter, Hunter; his parents, Sharlene and Emil; and siblings Michael, Michele, Martin, Melissa, David and Tyler.
