Comments Off on Megyn Kelly called ‘disgusting’ for saying Christina Applegate just wanted attention because she was sick

Last week, right-wing commentator Megyn Kelly stole his time attacks on Cornell’s Jane Doe discredit another woman: Christina Applegate.

As a result, Janice Dean — a veteran meteorologist who left Fox News earlier this year due to the progression of her multiple sclerosis — spoke out against Kelly, once one of her “closest friends.”

“I kept my mouth shut for a long time about #meangirl @megynkelly,” Dean wrote in an article on X last week before doubling down on his message to the New York Post on Sunday.

“I’m tired of her using her platform to put people down,” Dean told Page Six.

I kept my mouth shut for a long time about #meangirl @megynkelly. She was one of my closest friends and then she ghosted me after I supported @andrewcuomo for mayor and I told her she broke my heart. His comments on @1capplegate are disgusting. Having #MS for more than…

Applegate admitted in a tearful confession on her “MeSsy” podcast last Tuesday that she recently learned she was misdiagnosed with MS five years ago, and now feels like she’s “back to square one” when it comes to finding the source of her ongoing health problems.

That same day, Kelly boldly claimed that the only reason the “Married…with Children” alum spoke about her condition was to “gather sympathy” for her illness.

“She’s crying because she doesn’t have MS,” Kelly said of Applegate on her SiriusXM show. “She’s crying now because I guess she can’t be the face of this disease anymore and, as she says, she’s back to square one. She’s made something of a cottage industry out of talking about her MS.

Kelly added, “To me, it’s directly related to the money that some women, in particular, find in having an affliction or an illness or anything that can create sympathy for them in the public eye. Like, very few men do that, but it’s definitely a women’s thing. And it’s cultural. It’s societal.”

The former Fox News anchor mentioned Dean at the top of her segment on Applegate, saying, “When you think of the disease that is multiple sclerosis, you think of a few people, like the Hollywood stars who have possessed have this problem. Like, I think of Janice Dean…”

Dean clearly didn’t appreciate being quoted during Kelly’s rant and took to X to call out his former colleague.

“Her comments about (Applegate) are disgusting. Having had MS for over 20 years, she knows how long it took doctors to diagnose me,” Dean wrote last Wednesday. “I think Christina is brave for speaking the truth and I am grateful that she has become a voice for many of us.”

She added to Page Six that what Kelly said was “so cruel for a woman who is misdiagnosed and doesn’t know where to turn.”

“(MS) is a very misunderstood disease,” Dean said. “We don’t have a cure. It takes away everything when you don’t feel well. It took away my job.”

She continued: “I want to say more in defense of people putting their reputations and their jobs on the line, saying, ‘I’m vulnerable and I’m sick’… It’s the loneliest place you can be – to hear (Applegate) cry and see Megyn Kelly use that against her is disgusting.”

Dean concluded by explaining why she had ratted out an old friend.

“I don’t want to go down the path that she took. I don’t want to fight in the gutter, but I want to raise awareness,” she said.
