Mike Evans had a question for Trevon Diggs: Who are you?
49ers receiver Mike Evans terrorized the Seahawks with seven catches for 113 yards and a touchdown. He also made a two-point conversion that gave the 49ers a 29-26 lead with 11:02 left.
It was Evans’ best game in a 49ers uniform.
Evans also agitated Seahawks cornerback Trevon Diggs, something he did to other players around the league during his 13 seasons.
Evans was seen on the Fox broadcast turning to face Diggs, who was gurgling. Evans turned Diggs’ shoulder to glance at his nameplate before walking away.
“I was blocking him until the whistle, and then he said something like ‘I’m doing more’ or something like that,” Evans said after the 49ers’ 32-29 win over the Seahawks. “And I didn’t know it was him at first, because I played against him a few times, and we were always cool. He was a good player. And honestly, I didn’t know it was him because in the headset, it’s hard to tell sometimes. And we were talking trash, and I think I pushed him, and then I was like, “Who are you?’ I looked to make sure, ‘Oh, it’s fucking Diggs.’ And then he beat me to a pulp. It should have been a penalty (on Diggs). That’s how it is.”
In his second game with the Seahawks, Diggs had no stats. Diggs was on the team’s practice squad until Saturday, when the Seahawks placed him on the active roster.
Evans’ teammates appreciated his exchange with Diggs.
“It’s quite funny” said Trent Williams, via Matt Lively of CBS Sports Bay Area. “That’s what he says. Mike plays with an edge. He plays with a huge upside, something you wouldn’t expect a receiver to have. But it was pretty funny.
