More than 4 million tubes of toothpaste have been recalled nationwide, including some popular children’s brands.
Pritam International Private Limited initiated the voluntary recall on September 10, according to an enforcement report from the United States Food and Drug Administration. The FDA classified the recall as Class II on October 19.
The FDA website lists a Class II recall as “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violating product may result in temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or in which the likelihood of serious adverse health consequences is low.”
According to the FDA, the recall affects several varieties of Brush Buddies children’s toothpaste distributed nationwide, including character and ice cream-themed flavors. The recall also included two types of Evo products marketed for teeth whitening and sensitivity, as well as two Aru products marketed for gum health and cavity protection.
The FDA did not give a reason for the toothpaste recall. USA TODAY contacted the agency, which did not immediately respond to a request for additional information.
Which toothpaste products have been recalled?
The FDA’s enforcement report lists several varieties of Brush Buddies children’s toothpaste, including Hot Wheels and My Little Pony-themed flavors, in addition to chocolate ice cream, cream, and mint chocolate chip flavors.
