Big news for “Naruto” fans: the franchise is getting a new anime TV series and author Masashi Kishimoto is releasing another “Naruto” manga titled “Shadow Rising.”
The new anime series will be a crossover with the popular manga “NINK®” and will be supervised by Kishimoto and “NINK®” creator Koji Kiriyama.
According to the description of the upcoming anime “NARUTOxNINK®”, “Team 7 members Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura are assigned a mission by Kakashi. Since Kakashi cannot participate himself, Naruto is made acting leader. As a result of this decision, Naruto is fully motivated to make the mission a success. However, along the way, Team 7 finds themselves lost in another world. What appears before the stunned trio is a boy with a face resembling of a frog, named Fūsuke. What awaits them in this strange new world?
The news was announced Saturday during a “Naruto” panel at New York Comic Con, which concluded with the unveiling of the new “Naruto” manga, “Shadow Rising.” This reveal came at the very end of the panel in a teaser video indicating that more details will be shared at Jump Festa 2027 in December.
Also during the panel, a message from the director of the live-action “Naruto” film, Destin Daniel Cretton, was shared, which revealed more about the upcoming film.
“When we launched our global search for Team 7 this summer, I talked about what an honor it was to bring Kishimoto-sensei’s incredible world and characters to life,” Cretton wrote. “The further we get into making this movie, the more excited I get about what we’re creating. What I’ve always loved about Naruto is that he’s the character that might normally be pushed aside as a sidekick. He’s exciting, he tries too hard and people underestimate him. But he has an incredible heart. No matter how many times he fails or gets knocked down, he never stops believing in himself or to fight for the people he loves. What awaits us!”
