NFL Injury Report Week 4: Latest news, updates on Justin Jefferson and De’Von Achane, more for fantasy football

Comments Off on NFL Injury Report Week 4: Latest news, updates on Justin Jefferson and De’Von Achane, more for fantasy football

It’s never been easier for fantasy football managers. It seems like we’ve seen an abnormal number of injured players through three weeks of the 2026 NFL season. Not that we keep track or anything (we are). Last week, QBs were the big storyline with Caleb Williams, Jaxson Dart and Jayden Daniels going down. This week, it was skill position players and roster stalwarts De’Von Achane, Justin Jefferson and Breece Hall who were injured (among others). Let’s review the injury report and what to do if you have key players injured in Fantasy.

NFL Week 4 Injury Report

Strategist

  • Caleb Williams, CHI (hamstring)

  • Jayden Daniels, WAS (elbow)

  • Jaxson Dart, NYG (knee) — Out for the season

Mayfield: Just when we thought we were safe from any further QB injuries… Mayfield left Sunday’s loss to the Vikings with a dislocated right thumb. Head coach Todd Bowles told reporters Monday that Mayfield will miss three weeks. This would allow the QB to return in Week 7 against the Panthers. Jalon Daniels arrived late in relief and he will have the first chance to replace Mayfield. Tampa Bay could also explore outside options if Mayfield is out long-term. Regardless, this is a significant downgrade for what was already a difficult passing game for the Bucs. It will be difficult to trust players like Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin Jr. and Bucky Irving in fantasy.

Daniels: The Commanders say Daniels will be back in practice this week. Whether or not he’ll be ready for Week 4 against the Colts remains to be seen. It would be surprising to see Daniels back this soon, but we’ll see what his practice reports look like this week. Regardless, Marcus Mariota was solid in the Week 3 upset win over the Seahawks.

Run back

  • Breece Hall, NYJ (quad) – week by week

Achané: Miami lost its best running back early in the loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. And the worst was reported by ESPN on Monday morning with Achane suffering a torn ACL, effectively ending his 2026 season. Miami was already trending towards becoming one of the last inhabitants of the NFL and fantasy world this season. Losing Achane is the worst possible scenario. With Achane sidelined, you can’t really replace the type of player he is and that type of early round draft capital. Ollie Gordon II will get the first chance to be RB1 with Jaylen Wright inactive against Kansas City. If you have Achane on your list, your top priority this week should be Gordon.

Room: It was a quad injury for Hall, who was tackled awkwardly late in the loss to Detroit. Hall is being considered week-to-week, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. If Hall misses the next game, Braelon Allen figures to take most of the work out of the backfield and is another solid waiver wire target this week. Isaiah Davis could be a target in deeper formats.

Etienne: The start of Etienne’s tenure in New Orleans was disappointing. It is even more serious in a sea of ills. To make matters worse, Etienne had a good game before bowing out against the Raiders in week three. He had 15 touches (including two catches) and 70 total yards – not bad production with room for more. Tyler Shough also threw four TDs to tight ends in the red zone, so one of those TDs could have gone to Etienne in another universe. Sadly, he is now on the mend and is expected to miss some time. With Etienne sidelined, Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller will handle the bulk of the RB snaps with CJ Donaldson as well.

Wide receiver

  • Justin Jefferson, MIN (ankle)

Jefferson: JJ was forced to leave early in the Vikings’ game against the Bucs on Sunday due to an ankle issue. We’ll need more information and see how practice goes this week as Minnesota prepares for a game against the Dolphins in Week 4. NFL Network reported that Jefferson was dealing with a sprained ankle, but the imaging was good, so there’s a chance he’ll be out there Sunday. If Jefferson is out, Jordan Addison becomes an interesting start. He had a 5-90-1 line for the Vikings against Tampa Bay. The game against Miami is juicy but the passing game could be limited given what we saw from Kyler Murray.

Nacua: The star wide receiver missed a second straight game with groin and hip issues. The team thinks it’s possible Nacua will be back in Week 4, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. That said, it’s still possible that Nacua could undergo groin surgery. If the scope shows no improvement, a procedure would be the next option. The team, however, does not believe that Nacua will need to undergo surgery to correct the problem.

Evans: The Niners’ best player was forced out after taking a hard hit to the side/back. He was carried to the locker room and appeared to have some difficulty breathing as he left the field. The 49ers say Evans suffered a rib strain during the game and NFL Network reported Monday that the discrepancy was daily. If Evans is out, add him to the roster for San Francisco, which already has Ricky Pearsall and Demarcus Robinson. Deebo Samuel Sr. and George Kittle will continue to lead the passing game with Jordan Watkins, a second-year wideout, being an interesting depth addition.

Coker: The young receiver started the season strong, but was forced to leave early in Carolina’s loss at Cleveland. Coker is reportedly dealing with a quad strain and is considered questionable for Sunday night’s game against the Lions. This is a great matchup if Coker is able to play, as Detroit’s defense has been friendly so far this season.

Tight end

  • Chig Okonkwo, WAS (hamstring)

Out for Season/Injured Reserve/PUP List

  • Ricky Pearsall, WR, SF (knee) — Out for season

  • Jaxson Dart, QB, NYG (knee) — Out for season

  • De’Von Achane, RB, MIA (knee) — Out for season

  • Ja’Kobi Lane, WR, BAL (wrist) – Injured reserve

  • De’Zhaun Stribling, WR, SF (ankle) – Injured Reserve

  • Omar Cooper Jr., WR, NYJ (ankle) – Injured reserve

  • Jordyn Tyson, WR, NO (hamstring) – Injured reserve
