Daniel Jones isn’t in danger of losing his starting job just yet. Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen, after the Colts’ 26-20 loss to the previously winless Tennessee Titans, confirmed that Jones would remain his starting quarterback despite his struggles this season.
“I think he knows he has to play better,” Steichen said. “I have to coach better. There’s a lot of things, it doesn’t depend on one guy. But we have to do a lot of things better.”
Jones, who returned in time to start this fall after his Achilles injury late last season, hasn’t played well in recent weeks. He completed just 22 of 42 passes for 269 yards with one touchdown and threw two interceptions in Sunday’s loss. Although the Colts dominated the first half offensively – the unit rushed for 232 yards while the Indianapolis defense held Tennessee to just 64 yards in the first two quarters – they had to settle for field goals twice despite being in prime position to find the end zone.

The calls for Mike McDaniel’s job are only getting louder.
This time, however, Jim Harbaugh wasn’t as strong in his defense of his offensive coordinator.
Harbaugh, after the Los Angeles Chargers lost 22-6 to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, said they were “going to have to fix everything, especially offensively.” The loss dropped them to 0-6 on the season, marking their worst start since 2000. Coincidentally, Harbaugh was on the Chargers’ roster as the quarterback who finished 1-15 this season – including five starts, where he threw for 1,330 yards, 8 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
Asked directly about McDaniel and whether he was going to continue calling plays, Harbaugh said they were “going to look at everything.”
“The work that I do starts with me. We’ll look at that and talk to our offensive coaches,” Harbaugh said. via ESPN. “I see the effort, I see the work put in in the meetings, on the practice field, and for that to translate on the field, that’s what’s needed. Feeling bad for our players, our team, our coaches, our fans. And (the offense) needs to be addressed.”
