Nick Sirianni on Jalen Hurts’ medical visit: ‘Doctors have to do their job’
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was visibly frustrated with a concussion evaluation that kept him off the field for a promising practice that ended with an Andy Dalton interception during Monday night’s game against the Bears. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni didn’t like the moment either, but he understands the importance of keeping players safe and healthy.
“It’s obviously frustrating,” Sirianni told ESPN’s Lisa Salters at halftime of Monday night’s game, “but the doctors have to do their job. Guys, they have to protect these guys. And, you know, we have a hit on the sideline that they looked at, and that’s the way it goes. We have to be able to get the ball in from that one, no matter who’s there. Yeah, I’m disappointed that Jalen wasn’t up for it. that. We have to take care of the ball with Andy But hey, I mean, they’re doing their best to keep the players safe.
Unlike former Giants coach Brian Daboll last year during a prime-time game against the Eagles, an emotional Sirianni stayed away from the tent. The league’s punishment of the Giants, Daboll and running back Cam Skattebo may have had something to do with it.
Either way, Sirianni understands. If a player is being checked for a concussion, he is not available. The technical staff and players have no choice but to adapt to this circumstance.
