Number one contender’s match stopped at AEW All Out 2026 following Steven Borden injury

The number one contender’s match at AEW All Out was stopped due to injury.

As Darby Allin and Steven Borden wrestled Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher on Saturday in Chicago, Borden and Fletcher walked to the top rope and taunted each other before going for what appeared to be a coast-to-coast double spot. Upon impact, Borden landed hard on his head as the referee immediately checked him. Shortly after, the match was stopped and Knight and Fletcher were declared the winners by doctor’s stoppage.

Cameras blocked what was happening in the ring, but announcers later said Borden was helped out of the ring. Later that night, Tony Schiavone said Borden was conscious and in the hospital.

The Road to All Out

Borden, who has competed in dark matches before AEW events for most of this year, made his Dynamite in-ring debut earlier this month by defeating Family members Don Callis, Josh Alexander and Mark Davis. The two then teamed with Adam Copeland and Christian Cage to defeat Knight, Fletcher and FTR in an eight-man tag team match.

With this victory, Fletcher & Knight will now face the winners of a three-way match between FTR, The Young Bucks and Cage & Copeland for the AEW Tag Team Titles which will take place later in the show.
