Teacher shot dead at Highland Middle School in Hobbs

Police are investigating after a teacher was shot Friday at Highland Middle School in Hobbs.

According to the Hobbs Fire Department, they received a call about a shooting at Highland Middle School Friday morning. When they arrived, they say a teacher had been shot and taken to the hospital.

Hobbs police say the victim was shot multiple times.

Police arrested a juvenile suspect after a short foot chase in the area of ​​the school.

Due to the incident at the middle school, officials canceled the Hobbs High School homecoming parade and postponed the varsity football game. The football match will be played on Saturday morning.
