On live radio, frustrated Ben Johnson says Bears need to be ‘(bleep) better’
GREEN BAY, Wis. — A frustrated Ben Johnson said the Bears “need to be better” on the radio as he ran to the locker room for halftime of Sunday’s Bears-Packers game at Lambeau Field.
The Bears head coach was interviewed by ESPN 1000 reporter Jason McKie after the first half ended with the Bears trailing 14-7. He was asked about momentum.
“Momentum, shmo-mentum,” Johnson said. “We have to play better. I have to be better.”
The insults broadcast live on the radio were perhaps a turn of phrase that the late Bears coach Mike Ditka would have appreciated.
The Bears trailed the Packers 14-0 before scoring on a 1-yard run by D’Andre Swift late in the first half. They then pushed the Packers out of scoring range with the help of two sacks by Austin Booker and an illegal substitution penalty against Green Bay.
