It’s only been 13 days since the Green Bay Packers’ 2026 season began, but after three games, many fans probably feel like the season is over.
And who could blame them?
There was a collapse, there was one of the worst home losses in years, there were brutal injuries, there was undisciplined football, there was a team that couldn’t protect its quarterback, run the ball, or gain 1 yard when it needed to.
The Packers (1-2) appear to be a team in crisis with no path forward from their current state. All of their weaknesses were exposed in a 21-point loss in their home opener on “Thursday Night Football” to the Atlanta Falcons. And the fans let them know how they felt by booing the team early and often.
If this was a one-time event, fans might overlook it. But it’s a trend that extends beyond Falcons play. The Packers are 1-7 in their last eight games overall, dating back to last season.
But one Packers rookie is speaking out and he wants fans to know one thing:
“It’s not over,” linebacker Dani Dennis-Sutton wrote on X on Friday, September 25, a day after the Packers were run off the field by the Falcons.
The Packers are 1-2 for the first time since 2014
It’s true that there are plenty of games left for the 2026 season – 14 to be exact.
And the last time the Packers were 1-2 was 2014, when they were one of the special teams miscues on their way to the Super Bowl.
After losing his second game in Week 3, Aaron Rodgers then told everyone to RELAX.
This team would win four straight and nine of 10 games as the Packers would finish 12-4, win the NFC North division, earn a playoff bye, beat the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round before losing to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game after collapsing late.
Could the 2026 Packers make a similar comeback?
Like in 2014, the Packers played and beat the New York Jets in Week 2 and followed it up with a poor offense showing the next. But 12 years later, if this team doesn’t find a solution at offensive line, running back, or start tackling, they won’t follow what the 2014 team did, no matter how many games remain.
Who is Dani Dennis-Sutton?
The Packers selected Dennis-Sutton, 22, with the 120th overall pick in the fourth round.
In three games, he has nine tackles (two solo and seven assisted). Dennis-Sutton had half a sack in the Week 2 overtime win over the New York Jets and had two assisted tackles on Thursday night.
His optimism could be fueled by the fact that the Packers will have his mentor, Micah Parsons, back in the coming weeks.
Both Dennis-Sutton and Parsons played at Penn State.
All-Pro edge guard Parsons hasn’t played since tearing his ACL in the Packers’ Week 15 game against the Denver Broncos last season. A return date could occur in mid-October.
Parsons has been on the sideline this season, which has motivated his defensive teammates. The defense performed well against the Jets in helping save that game, but was exposed by one of the game’s best running backs four days later.
Bijan Robinson had 194 yards and two touchdowns, reminiscent of when Derrick Henry passed for 216 yards and four touchdowns against the Green Bay defense in the Packers’ home finale during the 2025 season.
