Possible safe fires, explosions prompt lockdown order in San Francisco financial district: SFFD
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — San Francisco crews are responding to safe fires and minor explosions reported Thursday morning in the Financial District.
This resulted in a shelter-in-place order for the area near the intersection of California and Front streets. It expanded to the 100 to 300 blocks of California Street and the 100 to 300 blocks of Front Street.
San Francisco firefighters are investigating a possible fire in a vault at 150 California Street, reported around 6:30 a.m.
There were reports of smoke in a basement and a power outage as a result.
Witnesses claim to have heard at least two explosions, which firefighters confirmed.
Officials say PG&E, which is on site, is shutting off additional power, which will affect more locations.
No injuries have been reported but the public is advised to avoid the affected area.
