Presidential election 2027. Accused of violence, Philippe Brun wants to re-enter the left primary

MP Philippe Brun, excluded from the left-wing primary on Wednesday after accusations of violence, demanded on Saturday to be reinstated in this tie-breaking process and to be able to participate in the first televised debate on Wednesday, according to comments collected by BFMTV. “We talked about a criminal complaint, but this complaint does not exist. (…) I ask Olivier Faure (the boss of the PS, editor’s note) to reinstate me in the left primary”, scheduled for October 9-10 and 16-17, declared the 34-year-old parliamentarian during the “Popular Festival” that he organizes each year in Léry, in his Eure constituency.

He was suspended from the Socialist Party on Wednesday as a precautionary measure following accusations from an activist relating to “facts likely to be subject to criminal characterization”, according to the PS leadership. The accusations against Philippe Brun relate to three registers: “the register of harassment”, that of “physical violence” and that of “family employment”, specified the leadership of the PS to AFP.

A first debate on Wednesday

Recalling that a first televised debate was organized on Wednesday on LCI between the participants in the primary, Philippe Brun indicated that he wanted to “participate in this debate. I have my sponsorships, I am a socialist deputy, nothing justifies this suspension,” he insisted.

Philippe Brun, who considers that “the national office of the PS was deceived”, also asks “each of the candidates in the primary to position themselves, to escape from ambiguity. We cannot hide behind this arbitrariness that was inflicted on me,” he said. Philippe Brun is also suspended as a precautionary measure from the PS group of the National Assembly.
