About three days ago, coder Swordpdf revealed PS5SX2: an ambient-coded port of the PCSX2 emulator, which allows users to emulate PS2 games on jailbroken PS5s using physical PlayStation 2 discs. Today they revealed the RPS5S3, which allows jailbroken PS5s to do the exact same thing with physical PS3 discs.
Swordpdf introduced the RPS5S3 emulator earlier this morning in an article on X. As you can see very clearly in the video shown in their article, Swordpdf starts Gran Turismo 5 after inserting a physical copy of the PS3 game into their PS5’s disc tray.
However, unlike Swordpdf’s previous project, this one is currently not available for download via GitHub. In fact, it’s not even technically finished, as the latest version of the emulator on the Discord PS5SX2 is titled “RPS5S3 Test Build 3.”
This means we don’t have a corroborated list of PS3 titles working with RPS5S3 either. Fortunately, we have an idea of which RPS5S3 compatible titles, job on the Discord PS5SX2 indicates that Grand Theft Auto IV, God of War: Ascension, LittleBigPlanet, infamousAnd MotorStorm: Pacific Rift are the “most played games” of the emulator.
First PS2 discs. Now PS3 discs.
The PS5 is gradually becoming the PlayStation it should have been. 🎮Sony has given us five generations of PlayStation,

As the name suggests, RPS5S3 is apparently a fork of the RPCS3 emulator, which allows you to emulate PS3 games on PC. Although Swordpdf has not confirmed this anywhere and there is also no GitHub repository to validate this, it can be assumed that RPS5S3 is also a Claude-coded venture.
There are two reasons why I think it is safe to assume this statement. For starters, Swordpdf was pretty open about using Claude for PS5SX2 vibecode, and even listed him as a contributor on its GitHub page. Second, the turnaround in this area is frankly disconcerting. The PS5SX2 went live on October 9, and the second test build of the RPS5S3 was posted to Swordpdf’s Discord yesterday afternoon.
I probably don’t need to explain why this delay implies that some AI-assisted coding was required to achieve this, because if porting the RPCS3 emulator to PS5 had only taken a human two days… well, they would have done it so well before now.
Likewise, the short turnaround time for the RPS5S3 marks another blow to Sony from AI over the past two weeks, as both the PS5 jailbreak “Relapse” method and the PlayStation 5 operating system emulated on PC was related to advances in AI-assisted coding. PlayStation lawyers must be having a hell of a month, huh?
