Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson leaves game against Titans with ankle injury
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed the second half of the Ravens’ 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday with an ankle injury.
Jackson was on the sideline without a helmet on Baltimore’s first possession of the third quarter, with the Ravens holding a 24-7 lead. The team announced he was doubtful to return, but Jackson did not play another snap.
He was also seen wearing a boot on his left ankle after the match, according to ESPN.
Jackson got off to a good start before leaving. He completed 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. He also carried the ball twice for 20 yards.
He was tackled on the penultimate play of the half and appeared to favor his ankle after going to the sideline. He was replaced by backup Tyler Huntley to start the third quarter.
Huntley finished the game completing 8 of 9 passes for 63 yards, and Baltimore didn’t score again.
Injuries have been a problem at times for Jackson, a two-time MVP. He missed four games last year and the Ravens went just 2-2 in his absence. Baltimore finished the 2025 season 8-9 and missed the playoffs.
In 2021, Jackson missed five games and the Ravens went 1-4 without him, missing the playoffs. The following season, he again missed five games and did not play in Baltimore’s first-round playoff loss.
The Ravens entered this season with high expectations despite parting ways with former head coach John Harbaugh. He was replaced by former Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, who was defensive coach under Harbaugh in Baltimore from 2017-2020.
The Ravens entered Sunday with a 2-1 record, beating the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys, with their only loss coming against the New Orleans Saints. Baltimore is now tied with the Cleveland Browns for the lead in the AFC North after Sunday’s victory.
Jackson, 29, is in his ninth season with Baltimore, which selected him with the last first-round pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. Entering Sunday, he had totaled 745 yards and four touchdowns this season and had run for one more score.
Jackson is in the penultimate year of a five-year, $260 million contract he signed in March 2023. He and the Ravens reportedly did not seriously discuss a long-term extension until this season.
