Rumor: Sony ‘accepting game presentations’ on fan-favorite franchises, first wave expected around PS6 launch

An admitted leaker who previously revealed the existence of Metroidvania spin-off God of War: Sons of Sparta has claimed that Sony is “accepting multiple game launches” for projects inspired by fan-favorite franchises.
Recently, there has been an increase in rumors related to legacy series, like Killzone, which is reportedly in production at People Can Fly under the supervision of series creator Guerrilla. (The leaker here says he contributed to the original MP1st report on this.)
However, as reported recently, it appears that a new Ape Escape is currently in production at an unknown studio. And according to the preview here, Sly Cooper is another franchise rumored to be getting a reboot.
The leaker claims that these titles are not outsourced or published by an external party like Bandai Namco; Sony funds and publishes the projects, with input from some of the original creators to ensure they meet appropriate standards.
The snooper also says he has a “hunch we’ll see the first wave of this initiative around (the) PS6 launch window,” which will definitely get jaded fans excited. Of course, it’s likely that all titles will also be available on PS5.
I think this is something fans have wanted Sony to do for a long time. While it’s understandable that studios like Naughty Dog have evolved, there’s still a desire for new entries in series like Jak & Daxter.
The hope is therefore that talented studios will come and present their ideas to the platform holder and that the best will receive the green light.
With so many great developers looking for work, I really hope this proves to be a successful venture. But you also have to walk the talk: if you want there to be a future for Ape Escape, Sly Cooper, etc., you have to show up for these.
