Sean “Diddy” Combs is placed in solitary confinement again
Sean Combs was reportedly placed in solitary confinement following an NBC News report that the music mogul used a contraband cell phone to scroll through Instagram, kept a private stash of premium alcohol and had access to a jailbroken tablet on which he watched a Netflix documentary about himself.
The 56-year-old was placed in a special housing unit, NBC and TMZ reported, after footage surfaced of Combs apparently using a cellphone while serving his 50-month sentence at Fort Dix in New Jersey. This would be the second time Combs had been placed in solitary confinement, following a physical fight with a fellow inmate in July.
Last year, Combs was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following a high-profile criminal trial. Combs recently had his release date pushed back to January 2028, although it is unclear whether this apparent violation will push back his return home.
In a statement, Combs’ spokesperson called the reporting on Combs’ time behind bars sensationalizing “ordinary life in prison,” adding that “the only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence while awaiting the court’s decision on his appeal.”
According to NBC News, Combs had enjoyed a relatively pampered stay at the low-security federal correctional institution. The former billionaire allegedly paid thousands of dollars to his fellow inmates in exchange for favors, including cooking him gourmet meals and cleaning showers and toilets before using them. “He’s a billionaire. People are impressed by him,” a source told the outlet. “Money is power, especially behind bars. »
But beyond simple “care”, Combs would have succeeded in securing the contraband. He reportedly has a stash of Hennessy alcohol, buys Remeron pills, a mood-enhancing antidepressant, owns a prison escape tablet that he used to watch Netflix-produced docuseries 50 Cent has on him, and has a cell phone that he uses to scroll through Instagram and view nude photos of an ex-girlfriend.
rolling stone examined the Instagram account believed to belong to Combs, which is among 365 accounts followed by his own publicist. The anonymous profile follows Combs’ children, longtime family friends who are not public figures, and women romantically linked to Combs. The account recently reposted videos involving Combs’ former girlfriend Yung Miami, 50 Cent and former Bad Boy artist Mase.
Fort Dix has had problems with contraband inside the facility. Last month, five people – including a current and former Fort Dix corrections officer – were charged with conspiring to supply contraband into the prison. Between May 2025 and May 2026, the defendants are accused of smuggling knives, marijuana, tobacco, cell phones, vapes, cell phone chargers, tool kits and a tattoo kit into Fort Dix, with more than $100,000 transferred between the co-conspirators, according to the criminal complaint.
