Shannon Sharpe hits back at Jaguars star Travis Hunter’s wife after ‘two-way’ shade
Jacksonville Jaguars star Travis Hunter became the first NFL player in 24 years to catch a touchdown pass and record an interception in the same game on Sunday.
His wife, Leanna Lenee, took the opportunity to call out NFL icon and media personality Shannon Sharpe, who she said criticized Hunter.
During Sunday’s game, Hunter’s wife posted an Instagram story captioned: “Anyway… @shannonsharpe84 When talking about my husband, make sure to put the player “TWO WAY” in front.
She clearly took issue with Sharpe’s past comments about Hunter.
Sharpe responded to that call from Hunter’s wife during an episode of his show “Night Cap” Sunday night.
“We’ve made it clear that the likelihood of him playing every snap, every down, on both sides of the ball is not going to happen,” Sharpe said after reading Hunter’s wife’s Instagram story.
“Play him on the defensive side of the football and play him in (offensive) packages. That’s what they did today… He played nine snaps (on offense against the Texans). That’s all we said!” Sharpe continued.
“Hey, I understand he’s your husband, and you’re supposed to roll for him. But if you take what I said — and I appreciate you watching the show, that means more to me than anything… All I’ve ever said is, he doesn’t play every snap, every down, on both sides of the ball. I believe he’s in every corner, and then you pepper him in packages,” he added.
It seems Sharpe doesn’t think this criticism is justified, given what he actually said about Hunter.
