NEED TO KNOW

  • Christine Brown reflected on the end of her 25-year marriage to Kody Brown during a conversation with Meri Brown on the November 1 episode of Sister Wives

  • She remembers telling Kody he was no longer welcome in her room after he admitted he wasn’t attracted to her.

  • Christine also revealed that Kody’s decision not to attend their daughter Ysabel’s back surgery was the biggest factor in his decision to leave.

Christine Brown knew when it was time to stop sharing a room with Kody Brown.

During the November 1 episode of Sister WivesChristine reflected on the breakdown of her 25-year marriage to Kody, with whom she shares six children, during a candid conversation with ex-wife Meri Brown.

“As far as me leaving, it was a process, because I still felt like I had my values, which were commitment, marriage, whatever,” Meri said. “And I thought he would come back. But I don’t regret how long it took me, because I feel like I’ve grown so much throughout the process.”

Christine was on the same wavelength. “I didn’t know I had to leave until I knew it was time to leave, and then I left.”

One thing that led to her decision, she told Meri, was when Kody refused to come to Ysabel’s back surgery. “That was the most important thing. I was like, I can’t be married to this guy anymore. He just says, in front of Ysabel’s face, ‘I can’t leave my family for that long.’ And she said to me, “I thought we were family.” “

Meri herself also played a role, Christine revealed, recalling a conversation from Season 10 where she told Meri, “I can’t marry Kody anymore.”

Meri tried to console Christine in the moment by telling her to look at the view, and Christine recalled, “I was thinking — I know you were talking, you were probably saying nice things — but what I was thinking was, ‘I don’t want what I have, and I don’t want what you have, and I don’t care about these mountains anymore.’ “

“He wasn’t attracted to me. He wasn’t interested,” she said of what Kody told her at the time. “And he came and he started going up the stairs. I said, ‘What are you doing?’ And he said, ‘Well, I’m going to go to bed.’ I say to myself: “Your bed is not there. You must leave. “

When Kody asked where his room was, Christine told him, “I don’t know. It’s not here. It’s my room. The only person allowed in there is me, because I really want to be with me.”

Christine announced her split from Kody after 25 years together on Instagram in 2021. “After over 25 years together, Kody and I have separated and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” she wrote. “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we raise our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate this time within our family.”

In 2023, she married David Woolley. She told PEOPLE at the time that it was a “fairytale” romance and “everything I never thought I’d have.”

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
