Skydance’s JB Perrette takes first steps after renewing contract
JB Perrette moved quickly to assemble the executives who will report to him at Skydance.
Perrette, who is co-president and chief commercial officer of Skydance TV and co-president and chief commercial officer of Skydance Direct-To-Consumer, oversees global distribution, advertising sales, content sales, DTC strategy, marketing and business operations within Paramount and new owner Warner Bros. Discovery.
Deadline understands that Perrette has signed a new contract, as have several members of David Ellison and Ynon Kreiz’s top team. It’s unclear exactly how long Perrette is signed on for, but colleagues Casey Bloys, with whom he worked closely at WBD, signed a five-year contract earlier this month.
He immediately got to work; Earlier today, it named three executives to oversee sales, advertising and content distribution for it.
David Decker has been named president of content sales, ahead of Mipcom’s international television market, Jay Askinasi is director of revenue, advertising and Ray Hopkins is president of distribution.
Decker’s appointment also led to the departure of the group’s first manager following the merger; As a result, Kevin MacLellan, who was president of international and worldwide content distribution at Paramount, is stepping down.
Insiders told Deadline that it’s important that the revenue-generating divisions at Skydance get their houses in order as soon as possible, compared to the content divisions that are still making personnel decisions.
Perrette is an interesting case; he was previously CEO and president of Global Streaming and Games for Warner Bros. Discovery and one of David Zaslav’s main lieutenants. But in recent years, he formed a key partnership with Bloys as the two men oversaw the growth of streaming service HBO Max, Bloys on the content side and Perrette on the business side. He will also now work closely with George Cheeks, co-president and chief content officer of Skydance TV.
