Los Angeles-based girl group Katseye debuted on Saturday evening live with performances of two songs from their new EP, Savage.
Four members of the six-person band were on stage Saturday for Animal and Hootie Frutti, while Manon Bannerman and Sophia Laforteza were on break. Savagereleased in August, also includes “Pinky Up”, “Bel Air” and “That Way”.
Katseye, who made an appearance at the American Music Awards in May after making her debut at Coachella the month before, formed just two years ago following the talent competition. Dream Academy.
Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland told rolling stone recently that the group could face severe pressure due to its rapid rise.
“In an industry as dynamic as the music industry, where eyes are constantly on you and the pressure continues to mount, your health is one of the most sacred things you have,” Rowland said. “I learned during my time in Destiny’s Child that you can show up in front of your fans and your group and still honor what you need as an individual.”
Rowland added, “My advice to the Katseye girls would be to listen to each other, be kind to themselves, and continue to support each other through each season. Especially on tour, it’s so important to intentionally schedule time to rest and reset in their daily routines. Taking care of your mind and body is what allows you to bounce back, stay resilient, and continue doing what you love.”
Laforteza addressed his mental health in walking away, and Bannerman made a similar statement.
Katseye began her 31-concert Wildworld Tour earlier this month in Europe. In a few weeks, they’ll begin a series of East Coast shows in Miami, working their way north to Canada, then moving west before wrapping up in Mexico City at the end of November.
