When Taylor Swift is your best friend, therapy is free.
Fresh off her role in the pop star’s “Patient Zero” music video, Dakota Johnson took the stage at Studio 8H for her third stint as host. Saturday evening live. Midway through his monologue, Johnson offered a candid — and hilarious — insight into his love life.
“I’ve been through two very public, very lame breakups with two really great musicians,” Johnson said, referencing her history with Coldplay’s Chris Martin and indie singer Role Model before joking that she’s “now looking for a third.”
Johnson then indicated that she would keep things professional, adding, “I’m not going to talk about my personal life during my monologue, I’m here to talk about my new movie, Truth.”
But Johnson didn’t have much to say about the thriller she stars in with Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett before her love life came up in the conversation.

“The film is a psychosexual erotic thriller and you know what? So is dating musicians,” she said. “Some of them don’t wear shoes, some of them are terrible in bed, but they’re all in my DMs.”
She continued, “Some people leave shows with merchandise and I leave shows with a two-and-a-half year relationship. But I have really good friends. They don’t judge me for dating these guys. In fact, they’re really supportive.”
That’s when Swift joined him on stage, smiling in a plaid dress.
“Ladies and gentlemen, my literal therapist,” Johnson introduced her. But the “Cleveland” singer was quick to set the record straight.

“Actually, I’m not your therapist,” Swift awkwardly tells Johnson. “You come to my house once a week with an empty bottle of wine and ask me if I want some.”
Johnson shrugged, “Yeah, well, I have manners.”
Swift continued: “You crash on my couch and overshare, and every once in a while I just say, ‘Damn, that’s crazy.'”
Confused, Johnson asked, “Isn’t that a therapist?”
After Swift revealed that their nights ended with her trying to kick Johnson out, only to give her Pedialyte and have security drive her home, the actress had one more thing to say about her dating history.
“Really quickly, since we’re talking about musicians, I think I’m actually doing a public service by dating them, because, ladies, I’m saving you a lot of money on Zoloft,” Johnson said. “So you’re welcome, America. And also England. And parts of Ireland. And Cleveland.”
Although there was no chance of Swift performing a song on last night’s show — the musical guest had already been announced to be rock band Turnstile — the Grammy winner made another appearance later in the night. During the good nights, as Johnson bid farewell to the crowd and thanked everyone who put on the show, Swift came out to give him a blue and white cake in honor of his birthday.
