The Galaxy Z Fold 8 already beats the foldable iPhone in a way I can’t ignore
THE The Galaxy Z Fold 8 beat the Foldable iPhone on the market within a few months, but this appears to be only its first victory. Even if some fine details in the software of the iPhone Duo has certainly made an impression, a recent survey reveals that it may be lagging behind in terms of design.
You don’t like the design of the iPhone Duo
When we While we reported on the Galaxy Z Fold 9’s potentially thinner design, we asked which foldable design you prefer. Options included the thinnest and the boxiest Galaxy Z-fold 8the more rounded and asymmetrical it is iPhone Duoand the overall design of the book-style foldables. Although Apple made a splash with the software design of the iPhone Duothe hardware design champion appears to be Samsung. More than 72% of you said you like the sharp edges and corners of the Galaxy Z-fold 8 more.
Rather shockingly, the iPhone Duo couldn’t land even as the second most favored option. That spot was taken by book-style foldable phones, with almost 19% of you saying you don’t like either passport-style phone. That leaves Apple’s first foldable smartphone with just 9% of your votes, which is downright embarrassing.
What’s going on with Apple’s design?

The iPhone Duo doesn’t have a truly inspiring design. | Apple Picture
Apple fans will argue that design is all about the user experience and overall feel of the device, not just the hardware. Even if there is some truth in this statement, it is difficult not to see the iPhone Duo as an iteration of Pixel 11 Pro Fold and older Google foldables. While it’s not a downright ugly phone, it does look like something we’ve seen before. On the other hand, Samsung’s first folding passport looks incredibly fresh, not just because of its wider shape. The sharp corners look sleek, the thin edges give it a premium feel, and the overall vibe is that of a modern, beautiful device.
Of course we’ll have to get our hands on iPhone Duo and get a real taste of its design and the feeling it leaves. But on paper, Samsung is running circles around Apple, which is as shocking as it is exciting.
This is unlikely to change anytime soon
