The Last of Us Day Reveals Ghost of Yotei Content and Ambient Video as Fans Beg Naughty Dog for TLOU 3
Naughty Dog has revealed that it is celebrating The Last of Us Day 2026 with Ghost of Yotei content, player avatars on PlayStation and Steam, and an hour-long mood video as fans continue to beg for updates on The Last of Us Part 3.
This is…probably not what you or anyone else expected to see when the Sony studio revealed his plans for his annual vacation this weekend. Instead of confirmation for The Last of Us Part 3 (or even yet, another remaster of an existing title), Naughty Dog instead revealed a collection of little surprises to keep fans connected.
The title is definitely an armor set coming to Ghost of Yotei from Sucker Punch Productions. Available from October 1, players will be able to access the sequel’s Most Wanted mode while sporting Clicker-inspired armor. Once unlocked, players will be able to use it in the base game, as well as its new DLC Echoes of Sekigahara. You can see a first look at The Last of Us armor below.
So what else is in store for The Last of Us Day 2026? Naughty Dog also announced a partnership with collectible company Youtooz for a Bloody Clicker figure. In addition to the previously revealed Welcome Hub wallpaper for PS5, PlayStation users can enjoy four new themed avatars, with even more available on PC via Steam.
Also starting October 1 at 10:00 a.m. PDT / 1:00 p.m. EDT there will be a new Steam and Epic Games Store sale, which will discount The Last of Us Part 1 by 50% and The Last of Us Part 2 by 33%. There’s also a new hour-long subway atmosphere video for those who miss living in the Cordyceps-infested world of the series. Does all this come with a teaser for The Last of Us Part 3? Well no. No way.
It’s been over six years since Naughty Dog released The Last of Us Part 2, the latest installment in the series. While the interval has seen the launch of significant episodes in the groundbreaking post-apocalyptic franchise, including the launch of two seasons for its live-action adaptation on HBOthis also disappointed fans.
Perhaps the biggest blow to those hoping to learn more about where the franchise is heading was the cancellation of the long-in-development multiplayer spin-offthat many call The Last of Us Online. Sony officially pulled the plug in December 2023, with the Naughty Dog team promising that they would focus solely on single-player games in the future.
As The Last of Us Part 3 remains absent and without any official confirmation that it is even in development, the studio is still in preparations for its next new IP, Intergalactic: the heretic prophet. Early images of the project looked promising when they were released shown in 2024but two years later, we still know little about him too.
In addition to all of today’s aforementioned goodies and a No Return charity stream for AbleGamers, the studio also announced that it has created dedicated The Last of Us social media pages on Instagram, Facebook, and X/Twitter. Still, fans spent the days leading up to The Last of Us Day hoping that the holiday would come with news about the series’ future. Some were hoping that this might confirm that The Last of Us Part 3 was in the works, but for now, at least, it looks like fans will have to wait.
The future of The Last of Us continues to be a mystery as Naughty Dog celebrates The Last of Us Day 2026.
