Travis Barker Reveals Why He Had Surgery After Hospital Photos
Travis Barker has revealed what led to his recent hospitalization, just a day after sharing photos from his hospital bed that had fans worried.
“I had surgery yesterday,” the Blink-182 drummer wrote via his Instagram Stories on Wednesday. “My arm, hand and fingers are numb from a show I performed last month.”
Barker, 50, noted that he underwent a nerve test Monday after his show, which revealed that he “needs a cubital tunnel release” to repair it.
“I wanted to get ahead and get this over with so I can continue playing the way I play for a long, long time 🥁,” he wrote.
Barker added that he “should be good in a few weeks 💪🏁.”
The drummer shared the update alongside a selfie taken by his wife, Kourtney Kardashian. Barker appeared in a hospital gown and surgical cap as Kardashian, 47, smiled next to him.
“(I) don’t know why my wife looks so happy about this 😂,” he joked.
The update comes a day after Barker shared photos from his hospital bed via Instagram Stories.
In the first photo, Barked posed for a selfie with his daughter Alabama, 20, dressed in a medical gown and surgical cap.
“My little girl came with me 🖤,” he captioned the snap.
He also shared a photo of Kardashian kissing him, writing, “And my beautiful wife by my side 🖤.”
The drummer has already suffered a hand injury.
In 2023, just before Blink-182 launched its reunion tour, Barker dislocated the ring finger on his left hand while rehearsing with the group.
At the time, he shared a black and white photo of the injured finger on his Instagram Stories, with the caption “Fk.”
He later revealed he spent an entire afternoon in a doctor’s office, where he underwent a scan and an injection to relieve pain.
The next day, Barker offered an explanation to fans on Twitter, writing, “I was playing drums in rehearsals yesterday, and I smashed my finger so hard I dislocated it and tore the ligaments 🤬.” »
Barker was also hospitalized in 2022 after developing “severe and life-threatening pancreatitis” following an endoscopy.
He later addressed the hospitalization on his Instagram Stories, writing: “I went for an endoscopy on Monday, felt fine. But after dinner I developed excruciating pain and have been hospitalized ever since.”
He said a “small polyp” was removed during the procedure, but the removal “damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube.”
“I am really very, very grateful that with intensive treatment I am currently doing much better,” he wrote.
Barker and Kardashian, who married in 2022, share son Rocky, 2, whom they welcomed in November 2023.
Kardashian also shares son Mason, 16, daughter Penelope, 14, and son Reign, 11, with ex Scott Disick.
Barker, for his part, shares son Landon, 22, daughter Alabama, and stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya, 27, with his ex-wife, Shanna Moakler.
