Russian strikes kill 12 in Ukraine, Zelensky says, after Trump announces diesel deal
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday that a dozen people had been killed by Russian strikes, a day after President Donald Trump announced that Russia had agreed to put diesel on the market to ease pressure on global energy prices during the U.S.-Iran war.
“Today, Russia expressed its thanks for the lifting of sanctions on diesel exports by dropping five hover bombs on residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia,” Zelenskyy wrote on life.”
Trump said Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to “immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to the U.S. and global market, an additional 500,000 tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 tons immediately thereafter.”
Trump said the agreement came after the two men had a “very fruitful discussion.”
The development comes after Trump, less than a month ago, signed the Lindsey O. Graham Russia-Iran Sanctions Act of 2026, which the White House said “authorizes and expands statutory sanctions, tariffs, and prohibitions against Russia and expands existing sanctions against Iran.”
