President Donald Trump said Saturday that 25,000 people were killed last month and another 32,000 the month before in Ukraine’s war with Russia.
“Last month, 25,000 people died in the war between Ukraine and Russia, okay? 25,000,” he told reporters on the White House lawn on Saturday.
“The previous month, 32,000 people died…mostly soldiers, 97% soldiers. But whether it’s military or civilian, think about it: 32,000. Two months ago, 33,000 people; this month, 25,000 people died. What a shame,” he added.

Russia alone has lost up to 450,000 troops since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

Trump also told reporters that he wants to see an end to the war soon, revealing that he recently spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“I’ve talked to him a lot, and he agrees, as does Putin. And one day, I hope that in the not too distant future, maybe before the harsh winter, they will find an agreement,” he told reporters.
He claimed to have pushed Zelensky to try to reach a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I agree with Zelensky that we talked about a lot of different topics, and a lot of these topics are very strong agreement. But you know what I want him to do? Make a deal. I want him to settle with Putin, and I want Putin to settle with him.

Zelensky announced Friday that Trump had agreed to allow Ukraine to license and produce U.S. Patriot missile interceptors.

“There are concrete agreements regarding Patriot licenses. At our meeting, President Trump emphasized that he has made his final decision: Ukraine will receive licenses to produce Patriot missiles,” Zelensky said on Friday.

President Trump had previously been reluctant to grant these licenses to Ukraine.
