Convicted Theranos fraudster Elizabeth Holmes issues disturbing threat from prison

Jailed Theranos fraudster Elizabeth Holmes posted a cryptic threat against apparent enemies who are “putting my child’s health and safety at risk” – using inflammatory language and images in the disturbing dispatch.

A post on Holmes’ X account featured an AI-generated image of a woman resembling the disgraced tech founder holding a match with a flaming bridge behind her.

“I don’t get angry often. Tonight I am,” the message begins.

“People are putting my child’s health and safety at risk. They knowingly chose this path.”

“If protecting my child means burning bridges, I will burn them to light the way.”

“It’s time to sleep. I’ll take the match tomorrow,” she concluded.

Holmes, the founder of the now-defunct blood testing startup Theranos, was convicted in 2022 of four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud investors.

She has two children, son William, 5, and daughter Invicta, 3, with her husband, Billy Evans. Invicta was born in February 2023, three months before Holmes reported to prison.

Her X account is still active, even though she is serving an 11-year prison sentence at Bryan Federal Prison Camp in Texas.

The account began posting in September 2025, but Holmes does not appear to post the posts herself.

“Mostly my words, published by others,” reads his X biography. It is unclear who shares the notes.

Recently, her account promoted Nathan Fielder’s upcoming documentary “You Can See Everything,” which chronicles her fall from Silicon Valley star to criminal.

The film’s full trailer was released Wednesday, showing Fielder making the doomed Holmes cry and asking her wealthy husband if he thought she was “ripping him off.”

Prosecutors said Holmes lied to investors from 2010 to 2015 by promising that Theranos’ technology could detect hundreds of diseases in a single drop of blood from a finger prick. She is eligible for early release on December 30, 2031.

It’s unclear what prompted his threatening message on Friday. A social media user asked her if it was a threat, to which she replied that it was “a promise.”

According to People magazine, Holmes’ children can visit their mother twice a week.

Holmes told People that it was heartbreaking for her to say goodbye to her children after each visit.

“The people I love most have to go while I sit here, a prisoner, and my reality sinks in,” she said.
