Fox News co-host Tomi Lahren discusses President Donald Trump’s work in his second term and how he handles the media on “The Evening Edit.”

President Donald Trump announced Friday that his administration would begin sending nearly $100 checks to more than 20 million seniors to help offset the cost of Medicare Part B premiums.

Trump said in a Truth Social article that the funds — which, based on the numbers he provided, would amount to about $2 billion — would come from the Medicare Improvement Fund.

“I am pleased to announce that my administration will immediately begin sending ‘checks’ of nearly $100 to more than 20 MILLION wonderful seniors to help pay their Medicare Part B premiums, which we have already reduced by significant amounts,” Trump wrote.

“This money will come from the Medicare Improvement Fund, a wasteful ‘slush fund’ that has only been used by Democrats in Congress to pay for the waste, fraud and abuse of their special interest friends and drive up health care costs,” he continued.

A White House fact sheet says the payments will amount to $90 per person and go to more than 20 million Medicare Part B enrollees, with most eligible beneficiaries receiving the money by direct deposit in early October and others receiving a check in the mail.

The administration said most Part B enrollees are eligible, except those whose premiums are already paid by Medicaid or who pay an income-related monthly adjustment amount.

In 2026, the standard monthly Medicare Part B premium is $202.90, while the annual deductible is $283, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Trump said the controls were intended to make Medicare more affordable for seniors.

“We are finally using this fund, along with my agreements with the Most Favored Nations, to dramatically REDUCE costs for our seniors,” Trump said. “I am committed to protecting and preserving Medicare and Social Security, which were about to be RUINED by Joe Biden, who stupidly and maliciously let tens of millions of illegal aliens into our country, and that is exactly what we are doing for America’s seniors.”

The president said the latest “giving back” proposal is separate from another initiative recently unveiled by the Trump administration to issue rebate checks to about a million Americans who they say were overcharged for ObamaCare.

An administration official previously told Fox News Digital that the U.S. Treasury has begun issuing $500 rebate checks to more than 950,000 Americans in 30 states. Each refund also comes with a letter from Trump.

Trump also said the new Medicare checks would not interfere with his campaign promise to deliver a $5,000 “Trump dividend” if Republicans retained control of the House and Senate in the upcoming midterm elections.

Trump already announced the proposed payments — which could cost more than $1 trillion and increase the national debt — at the Republican Party’s midterm convention this summer.

“Because I have kept my word on this very important issue to the American people, they can also be assured that the very popular $5,000 Trump dividend will be distributed to every American citizen if and when the Republicans win the midterm elections!” Trump wrote.
