President Donald Trump indicated Monday that he is considering firing Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Trump campaign official who has served as U.S. ambassador to Greece since 2025.

“We are looking into it,” Trump said when asked if he was considering firing Guilfoyle, as first reported by the Associated Press, amid allegations of misconduct related to her role as ambassador.

“We’re not happy,” Trump added.

His comments come days after he adopted a softer tone when asked Friday about his alleged conduct.

“I just heard a little about her. I don’t really know, but she was always very nice,” he said at the time.

An attorney for Guilfoyle — a former Fox News personality who was engaged to Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. — did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Trump’s remarks Monday.

Guilfoyle and the U.S. Embassy in Greece are under investigation by the State Department’s Office of Inspector General, two people familiar with the decision confirmed to NBC News last week.

The investigation follows reports in the Wall Street Journal of misconduct in her role as ambassador, including boasting about her ties to Greek tycoons who she said financed luxury trips for her. The story cited people who overheard the conversation and an audio recording. The reports have not been independently confirmed by NBC News.

Last week, a Trump donor named Eric Deters came forward, accusing Guilfoyle of asking him to pay his unpaid $100,000 American Express bill in the days before his 2025 Senate confirmation hearing in exchange for access to senior administration officials.

“She was so desperate to get that $100,000. It was a quid pro quo,” Deters told NBC News in an interview last week.

“She said I could ask her for anything and everything in the Trump world. There was no ask too big,” he said, adding that he did not pay her the money.

Guilfoyle’s lawyers did not respond to NBC News’ requests for comment on the allegations, but told The Associated Press that Deters owes him money for his speaking engagements, which he denies.

The attorneys, David Schwartz and Jesse Binnall, also denied allegations of any impropriety involving her travel, telling AP in a statement that she “sought, obtained and followed guidance from the Department of State and followed the Department’s travel rules.”
