Tyson Bagent doesn’t care if he gets credit as the starting QB for last week’s win
Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent made every play in Sunday’s win over the Jets. And he took all but one snap — the first, which meant that technically he wasn’t considered the starting quarterback.
On the Bears’ first play, Case Keenum took over with Bagent lined up wide, and because of that, the Elias Sports Bureau credits Keenum as official holder.
This means that official league statistics indicate that Keenum, not Bagent, was the winning quarterback. Bagent says he doesn’t care.
When asked by a reporter if it was fair that Keenum should be credited, Bagent responded, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. »
When the situation was explained to Bagent, he responded that it did not matter to him.
“I’m not going to go back and forth with who we think should get the win or who started or anything like that, I’m just happy we were able to execute and come away with the win,” Bagent said.
Bagent also responded to a question about Ben Johnson declaring him the starter earlier this week by saying he didn’t care about that either.
“I didn’t even know he was doing that,” Bagent said.
Bagent is focused where he should be, on the game.
