Upcoming ‘HomePad’: Will Apple hold a special event in October?

While Apple reportedly plans to unveil new products on October 13, here’s when the company could announce an event, based on the timing of its previous October announcements.
Will Apple hold an event in October?
While Apple’s September event history tends to follow a very predictable pattern, the company’s October event history is much less precise, both in terms of when events take place and how far in advance they are announced.
Since 2010, Apple has only held an October event 10 times, the most recent being the Halloween-themed “Scary Fast” event on the evening of October 30, 2023.
Here’s how far in advance Apple has announced each of its October events since 2010:
| Year | Event | Announcement date | Event Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | “Fast and scary” | Tuesday October 24 | Monday October 30 |
| 2021 | “Unleashed” | Tuesday October 12 | Monday October 18 |
| 2020 | “Hey, Speed.” | Tuesday October 6 | Tuesday October 13 |
| 2018 | “There is more to do” | Thursday October 18 | Tuesday October 30 |
| 2016 | “Hello again” | Wednesday October 19 | Thursday October 27 |
| 2014 | “It’s been too long” | Wednesday October 8 | Thursday October 16 |
| 2013 | “We still have a lot to do” | Tuesday October 15 | Tuesday October 22 |
| 2012 | “We have a little more to show you” | Tuesday October 16 | Tuesday October 23 |
| 2011 | “Let’s talk iPhone” | Tuesday September 27 | Tuesday October 4 |
| 2010 | “Back to the Mac” | Wednesday October 13 | Wednesday October 20 |
That said, Bloomberg recently reported that Apple plans to unveil its smart home hub, a new generation of HomePod mini, and a new Apple TV 4K powered by Siri AI on Tuesday, October 13, although it did not specify whether the company would hold an event to announce the products.
If this turns out to be the case, Apple could potentially announce the event as early as next Monday, October 5, but probably no later than Wednesday, October 7.
It’s worth noting that Apple is also expected to announce an OLED iPad mini, new iMacs, and several new MacBook Pros, including touchscreen models, in 2026. So it remains to be seen whether any of these products will be revealed at the same event, at a separate event, or via press releases.
Looking back, Apple announced new Macs through press releases for three consecutive days in October 2024, while in October 2025 it unveiled the M5 chip alongside new iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Apple Vision Pro models without holding an event.
In contrast, Apple has only held an event once in November, in 2020, when its “One More Thing” event showcased the first Macs powered by the Apple M1 silicon chip.
Of course, 2020 was an unusual year for Apple’s events calendar, with the company also holding separate events in September and October after a rare WWDC in late June when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted its usual schedule.
