Vinod Khosla concerned that journalists are accurately quoting him, again

It’s time for another cleaning on aisle 12.

Vinod Khosla, new owner of the Seahawks, who already complained about the media that focused on his assertion during his first press conference in August that he was and is a Steelers fan (and still watches all their games), now disputes the reasonable reaction to the official quotes he recently gave to Axios.

“To all @Seahawks fans and @12s,” Khosla said on Twitter, “we have no plans to move the team, we’ve never discussed it, we haven’t even thought about it. End of story. I’ve said many times we have no plans to change anything. Feel sad for the journalists looking for views and clicks which twists my answer out of context and sent an entire city into a spiral for no reason.

Where is the distortion? He gave a quote. The quote was noted, given its obvious implication. And the quote was repeated. That’s how this whole thing works.

Here is the question that Khosla was asked by Axios: “You’ve talked about being a steward of the Seahawks and preserving what Paul Allen built. But I don’t think you’ve made a formal commitment to keeping the team in Seattle long term. Will you make that commitment?”

Here’s his response: “I’ll never say never. Will this team be in Seattle in 500 years? But I currently have no plans to change anything about the team, including the coach, president, operations or Lumen Field. Everything is working fine.”

Khosla chose the words he spoke. He could have said, “The team will never move as long as I own it.” »

He’s smart enough to know that would hurt his leverage to get as much free money as possible when it’s time to renovate or replace Lumen Field. And that’s very good. However, he cannot have it both ways.

But it’s not his fault he says it. It’s our fault if we say he said it.

On top of all that, he once again had the opportunity to say: “The team will never move as long as I own it.” Instead, he said in his tweet: “We have no plans to move the team.” »

Plans change all the time. Hiding behind the phrase “no plan” creates the flexibility to come up with a different plan later.

Frankly, the city was “sent into a spiral” because Khosla missed the layup. And then I came back to the line, dribbled to the hoop and missed it again.

Khosla also told Axios that “he knows very little about managing a team.”

We will add this, with all due deference and respect: And it shows.
