Some people may be hesitant to grab a meal at a gas station or convenience store, but it could be a simple and surprisingly delicious way to save money on a road trip or daily commute.
Restaurant menu prices increased 0.3% in July and August this year, and menu prices were 3.4% higher in August than in August 2025, the National Restaurant Association reported in September.
“Quick service gas stations like 7Eleven, am/pm, etc. are the real value now,” one Reddit user said in a recent thread.

Amid these increases, finding inexpensive and convenient dining options can be difficult, but it’s not impossible.

Here are some convenience store and gas station chains offering tasty, budget-friendly meals and snacks, ranging from a $5 half-foot sub sandwich to a $9.99 box filled to the brim with Southern comfort food.

QuickChek, a New Jersey-based chain of gas stations and convenience stores, has more than 160 locations in New Jersey and parts of New York.
Subs and six-inch sandwiches cost $5 each, while a $4 breakfast combo includes an English muffin or croissant breakfast sandwich and a 20-ounce hot coffee or energy drink, according to the website.

The chain also offers a small, medium or large iced coffee for $1.99, which includes all customizations.
Wow
Based in Pennsylvania, Wawa serves coffee, a variety of breakfast items, snacks and freshly made sandwiches.
The chain earned the top spot in the American Customer Satisfaction Index’s 2024 convenience store rankings, primarily thanks to its food offerings, particularly its hoagies.

A classic Italian hoagie on a six-inch roll costs $6.29, while a breakfast including a breakfast sandwich, hash brown and coffee or fountain drink costs $5, according to Wawa’s website.
Buc-ee’s
Since its founding in 1982, the beaver-themed gas station chain Buc-ee’s has developed a reputation for its affordable gas prices, logo-adorned merchandise and extensive food offerings.
The drop in gas prices is mainly because customers are expected to spend more money inside the store, Yahoo Finance reported in June.

The chopped brisket sandwich is a popular takeout meal option, with the standard 8-ounce size selling for less than $10 at most locations, according to a website sharing Buc-ee’s menu items and pricing information.
Some editors say a trip to Buc-ee’s isn’t complete without beaver nuggets, a sweet and crunchy popcorn snack. A large bag of beaver nuggets sells for about five dollars, and homemade fudge costs about four dollars per square, according to Southern Living.
All Buc-ee’s locations are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, according to the website, and as an added bonus, the restrooms are known for being extremely hygienic.

Founded in Georgia in 1976, Parker’s Kitchen operates 110 locations in Georgia and South Carolina.
Known for its Southern-inspired dishes like fried chicken and biscuits, the gas station and convenience store chain offers meal options at prices that rival those of fast food restaurants.
