UPDATED: The White House blocked CNN from flying on Air Force One as part of the television network that accompanied Donald Trump on his trip to Tennessee on Saturday.
The other four networks in the rotation – CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox – declined to replace CNN, reinstating their suspension from the pool from earlier this week. That means a dearth of video footage from the White House and presidential trips.
A CNN spokesperson confirmed reports that the network had been removed from the network as a scheduled network providing television coverage of the president. Due to space constraints, much of the president’s media coverage is consolidated, with video, photo, audio and print information shared with a wider circle of media outlets.
Trump banned CNN, Politico and MS NOW from the White House grounds last week, but a federal judge ordered the credentials reinstated Thursday, finding it was a violation of due process rights.
The judge did not rule on a related White House action: On Sunday, after the president banned all three media outlets, the Trump administration also removed CNN from the television pool rotation. The other four networks in the rotation – CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox – refused to replace CNN in protest.
The TV pool resumed earlier Friday when CNN was restored, but the network is blocked again.
Trump posted on Truth Social Saturday morning: “FAKE NEWS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED INTO THE WHITE HOUSE!!! IT’S LASTING FAR TOO LONG, AT A HUGE COST TO OUR COUNTRY.”
