Vice-President of the European Parliament Victor Negrescu is on a week-long tour of Australia, lobbying skeptical Coalition MPs to support the FTA.

This is not my first trip here. I also wanted to come here to see where we are now, particularly with regard to joining the Horizon program and the fact that this autumn will see the official start of collaboration around this key European research programme. But also to see where we are on the free trade agreement, because I want to see if we’re ready to move forward. For me it is relevant to try to conclude, to approve this trade agreement and to implement it successfully, as has been the case with New Zealand.
