Why Trump is about to have a surprise ruling: Scaramucci
It’s the end of the GOP as we know it, says a former adviser.
Donald Trump’s own political party is closer to breaking ranks with him than it seems, a former adviser to the president says.
Anthony Scaramucci, who infamously served only 11 days as communications director in the first Trump administration, said on The Daily Beast Podcast that if the 80-year-old president follows through on a possible summit alongside Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and China’s Xi Jinping, it would be the downfall of his own party.
“If this meeting were to take place, then I would tell you that the Republican Party is completely dead,” Scaramucci told Joanna Coles of the Daily Beast. “We’ll probably have to remove a headstone. And you tell me the date of that meeting, and I’ll carve it into the headstone.”

A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to questions from The Daily Beast.
Earlier this month, the president made waves by suggesting a Yalta-style superpower meeting in November without Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. If such a meeting takes place, the Wall Street Journal reports, Putin plans to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine, which would favor the Kremlin.

“Whatever I can do to end the war, whether anyone is there or not, whatever I can do to end the war,” Trump said this week of the conflict Putin started nearly five years ago.
In a phone call with Trump on Oct. 9, Putin proposed holding the summit as relations between the two leaders have heated up in recent weeks, alarming Ukraine as well as its allies in Europe and Washington.

Relations between Trump and Putin appear to have deepened following the death of Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, the Republican Party’s fiercest Russia hawk.
Just last week, Trump quietly signed an executive order Friday night waiving major sanctions against Russia two days before they took effect — under a law named after the late senator.
The move follows Trump’s widely criticized decision to import Russian diesel in a bid to ease the global oil crisis triggered by his war with Iran, a sign of continued understanding with Moscow as he called on Ukrainians to “find a new president.”
But Scaramucci believes Trump’s attendance at the summit would constitute a next-level declaration of loyalty, one that Republicans could no longer ignore.
Lindsey Graham was one of Trump’s most ardent supporters in the Senate.
“The Cheney, Bush, Romney, Reagan, Eisenhower parties are dead, put a fork in it,” Scaramucci said. “So Trump should be very careful with that because, you know, he probably would… he’s going to push the envelope until he’s asked to leave the presidency.”
