Wladimir Klitschko claims ex Hayden Panettiere’s jewelry was pawned after her death
Hayden Panettiere’s ex-fiance Wladimir Klitschko is calling for a police investigation into his allegations that jewelry belonging to the late actress was pawned after her death.
The 50-year-old said he believed “a non-family member with” Panettiere had pawned some of his belongings — including jewelry — according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
The former professional boxer claimed the pawnbroker refused to provide details of the items unless contacted by law enforcement, adding that he feared they could be sold to third parties without intervention from authorities.
Klitschko’s latest filing asks that he be given the authority to request a law enforcement investigation into the recovery of Panettiere’s property.
This comes shortly after he requested to be named guardian of his estate and that of Panettiere’s 11-year-old daughter Kaya.
Klitschko filed documents in Los Angeles on September 24 seeking to be named temporary guardian of Kaya’s estate.
He wrote that his daughter – who lives with her father in Ukraine – “is entitled to the entirety” of Panettiere’s assets, adding that it was “urgent and essential” that he be appointed so that he “can receive, manage and hold” Kaya’s assets on her behalf.
Klitschko also said he was “informed and believed” that federal agents entered Panettiere’s Los Angeles residence and “removed property belonging to Hayden’s estate.”
“Prior to his death, Hayden and (Klitschko) had hired a security service to protect Hayden’s home and its contents, following a documented concern that an individual had gained unauthorized access to Hayden’s property,” court documents state.
“The locks on Hayden’s home were changed by security after Hayden’s death, and storage units containing designer clothing and accessories worn in public appearances were moved as a precautionary measure.”
Klitschko also alleged that some personal items, including jewelry, “disappeared or could not be found.”
Sources close to Panettiere’s family told TMZ they support the filing, saying, “Wlad is a great father and we are grateful.”
Panettiere’s parents, Lesley Vogel and Skip Panettiere, also disagree over what should happen to the jewelry she wore when she died.
According to the coroner’s report obtained by Page Six, the late “Heroes” actress was wearing “stud earrings” when she died, which were removed from her body during her autopsy and placed in a locker for safekeeping.
While one parent requested they be mailed to North Carolina, the other wanted them sent to an address in California.
“Both parties were informed that until they reached an agreement regarding the deceased’s personal effects, they would not be released,” the report states.
Panettiere died on August 16 at the age of 36 while staying at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office ruled the cause of death to be the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine, with the manner of death ruled accidental.
After her death, Klitschko shared a photo of himself, Panettiere and their daughter on Facebook, writing in part, “Our family is going through a time of deep shock and grief” and that the “Nashville” actress “left this world far too soon.”
