XV of France: Antoine Dupont confirms the rupture of the cruciate ligaments in his right knee
“Rupture of the cruciate ligaments. This is the start of a new challenge, I’ll see you in a few months on the pitch” wrote, Sunday March 9 on Instagram, Antoine Dupont, out with an injury the day before, during the Blues’ victory against Ireland.
“I am proud of what we accomplished yesterday and with all my strength with you, you will do it,” added the French rugby superstar to the attention of his teammates, who will play for the final victory in the Six Nations Tournament next Saturday at home against Scotland.
In view of the images, and the reaction of coach Fabien Galthié, the worst was to be feared for the captain of the Blues, released from the 29e minute limping after being the victim of an Irish clearing at the knees on a regrouping.
“There is suspicion of a fairly serious knee injury,” Galthié said at a press conference.
The French coach, with a closed face, also expressed “his anger”, adding that the Blues staff had “summoned (Irish) players to appear before the disciplinary committee”, in this case the second row Tadhg Beirne and the left pillar Andrew Porter, involved in the clearance which caused Dupont’s injury.
Replaced by Maxime Lucu, the scrum half, Olympic rugby sevens champion last summer, will be missed by the French XV but also by his club Stade Toulouse, with whom his season is now over.
“Courage, you will come back stronger captain,” the official Rouge et Noir account posted on Instagram in response to Antoine Dupont’s message.
