FOXBOROUGH, Mass. —
Country singer Zach Bryan and his bandmates wore pro-Palestinian shirts on stage during a concert at Gillette Stadium Friday night.
Bryan, who had two concerts scheduled in Foxborough this weekend, wore a black shirt with the phrases “Free Palestine.” A call to heaven.”
“An appeal to heaven” is a phrase and symbol that dates back to the Revolutionary War. It was the maritime flag of Massachusetts until 1971.
Other members of Bryan’s group wore Palestinian soccer jerseys.
In September, Robert Kraft, CEO of the Kraft Group, which owns Gillette Stadium, banned rapper Macklemore from opening for singer Ed Sheeran in Foxborough.
The move came after Macklemore gave a speech at a concert in New Jersey, in which he declared “Liberate Palestine” and claimed that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza.
In a statement released at the time, Kraft said Macklemore’s speech was deeply offensive to the Jewish community.
Bryan is expected to return to Gillette for another concert Saturday night.
NewsCenter 5 reached out to Kraft Group for comment but did not receive a response.
