Gatorade recall affects drinks sold in New York and New Jersey
More than 122,000 cases of Gatorade distributed in 37 states, including New York and New Jersey, are being recalled because some bottles may contain food coloring that is not listed on the label, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
PepsiCo’s voluntary recall covers 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange and Gatorade Orange Zero. The FDA said affected products may contain undeclared Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, or both.
The recall concerns 122,021 cases and was launched on September 25. The FDA classified it as a Class II recall on October 2, meaning that exposure to the products could cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, while the likelihood of serious health consequences is considered low.
The affected Gatorade was distributed in New York and New Jersey, as well as 35 other states. The recall remains in progress.
The FDA listing identifies specific lot numbers for the recalled bottles.
