Ancient Grey’s Anatomy Star Isaiah Washington revealed this weekend via social media that Jenise Maria Garland, his wife of 29 years, died in June 2025.
Washington said his wife collapsed “suddenly” on May 31, 2025, and died on June 9.
“This came as a huge shock to me and our entire family,” Washington wrote. “She succumbed to a massive hemorrhagic stroke and never recovered. Listen, y’all… some headaches aren’t just headaches or migraines, they can be much worse and a warning sign. Get a brain scan if you can and take these headaches seriously. She’s been gone for 16 months now, but she left behind 3 incredibly amazing children to carry on her legacy. I don’t know if that’s an appropriate message, because Jenisa Washington was extremely private, but I guess I just have to get scolded from her on the other side.
Washington is best known for his role as Dr. Preston Burke in Grey’s Anatomy. He appeared in several episodes of Valley P from 2020 to 2022.
