“I was 15 and I bled for about a month. Instead of having seven days on and 23 days off, I was the opposite. I usually only had seven days off, so they gave me some kind of hormone to regulate that, and that’s what happened. And then I had terrible periods my whole life. My cycle was usually 10 days long, heavy, very crampy, huge clots, those kinds of rules, you know.”
Melissa struggled with terrible times all his life. She was always a little overweight and noticed hair on her face, but wasn’t diagnosed until she took her daughter to the dermatologist for cystic acne. The doctor noticed their similar physical symptoms and told them she suspected PMS, suggesting they go see an endocrinologist to confirm. Melissa and her daughter were diagnosed with PMS over the next few months. Since then, she’s lost more than 30 pounds thanks to a mix of lifestyle factors and medications: first, metformin, and now a microdose of GLP-1.
